No Filter Photo Booth, Sydney

No doubt most photobooth businesses have seen their incredible social reels on Instagram — a showcase of creativity, flair, and next-level experiences that continue to push the industry forward.

So let’s get into it — meet the ‘unstoppable sisters’ behind No Filter, Rosa & Sophie and find out how they’ve built a brand that’s as bold and unforgettable as the events they capture.

What sparked your initial interest in starting a photo booth business? Was there a defining moment?

Rosa: For me, it was realising there was a serious gap in the market for a premium, curated photo booth experience – especially when it came to that chic, black-and-white Hollywood-style look. We were constantly seeing booths that felt a bit dated or gimmicky, and we thought, what if we made something that felt stylish, modern, and editorial-level beautiful?
Sophie: The defining moment was probably attending a wedding where the booth prints looked like they were from a 2010 house party. We left thinking, imagine if this felt more Vogue than old school iPhone flash.

What were you both doing before the world of boothing? Is this your first business venture?

Sophie: I was (and still am) working in marketing, which has been super helpful in building our brand from the ground up — from social media to customer experience. Marketing naturally crosses over into the photo booth world, especially when you’re trying to stand out visually in such a competitive market.
Rosa: I was working in construction project management and studying at uni. It might sound worlds apart, but those skills have come in handy — especially when it comes to logistics, problem-solving on the fly, and keeping everything running on schedule. This is our first business venture, and it’s been wild (in the best way)!

What parts of your business do you feel most passionate about, and which ones do you find less exciting?

Rosa: Definitely the creative direction — designing filters like our in-house Vintage and Hollywood Hills edits, and watching guests react to how good they look in the booth. That glow-up moment is unmatched.
Sophie: We’re all about luxury photo booth experiences that feel elevated — so it’s the styling, the tech setup, the lighting. But if we’re being real? Admin and logistics aren’t exactly where we thrive. Luckily, we’ve got systems (and checklists!) to keep things smooth behind the scenes.

What do you think is the most important factor when it comes to creating a strong brand presence in the photo booth business?

Sophie: Knowing who you are and staying consistent. In the photo booth world — especially in Sydney where it’s competitive — your brand is everything. We knew we wanted to create a photo booth that looked and felt high-end, with a focus on quality prints, stylish filters, and impeccable customer service. Every touchpoint, from our Instagram grid to our email replies, reflects that.
Rosa: It’s also about standing out visually. Our booth setups don’t just blend into the background — they become part of the event design. That attention to detail builds trust and makes people remember you.

What role does social media play in promoting your photo booth business, and how do you use it to engage with clients?

Rosa: Instagram is massive for us. It’s basically our portfolio, brand vibe, and client reviews rolled into one. People are very visual when shopping for event vendors, and they want to see real results.
Sophie: We share content that’s entertaining and informative — client galleries, setup transformations, BTS of our team. Reels have been huge for reach, and stories help keep things personal. Social media definitely drives most of our inquiries.

As a business owner, what has been your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?

Rosa: Creating urgency without being pushy. We learned early on that holding dates or negotiating on price didn’t align with our brand, but we also needed a way to encourage quick decisions. So now, we’re really clear about our booking process — no holds, no pressure, but we’re upfront that dates fill quickly and are only secured with a deposit.
Sophie: Boundaries were a game-changer. Once we streamlined our systems, everything felt more professional — and clients respected the structure.

What’s the most unexpected or hilarious thing that’s ever happened in one of your booths?

A very enthusiastic (and slightly intoxicated) guest was mid-pose when she projectile vomited right onto the floor… and yes, the booth camera caught the whole thing. Safe to say that photo didn’t make it into the final client gallery!

If you could only have one type of prop in your photo booth for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rosa: Definitely one of the Photo Booth Design Co’s PVC wedding props — they’re so sleek and timeless, and they elevate every glam or vintage session we do.
Sophie: Or one of the Party Doodle illustrated signs! They’re cheeky, fun, and guests love them. If we had to pick just one style forever, it would be something custom, bold, and photo-friendly — the kind of prop that becomes part of the memory, not just a background extra.
